Earlier this year, we exchanged a few brief notes with Lidia Carla Candusso. To many mycologists out there, the name will ring a bell – Editrice Candusso, Massimo Candusso’s publishing house, is where a number of cornerstone publications in modern mycology saw light: Flora Agaricina Neerlandica, as well as the Fungi non delineati and Fungi Europaei series, to name a few!
A few weeks later, we received an incredible unexpected gift from Lidia Carla – a heavy volume on the genus Agaricus: L. A. PARRA SÁNCHEZ Agaricus L. — Allopsalliota (Parte II). 1168 pages of beautifully illustrated Agaric goodness! Time to admit – apart from a handful of universally known species (A. xanthodermus, A. sylvicola, A. bitorquis…), identifying our Agaricus finds has always been a challenge. This is about to change, now that we are armed with such massive knowledge!
Grazie infinite, our Italian comrades!
